About Us

Central Church of the Nazarene was established on October 24, 1976, under the leadership of Dr. M. E. Clay, WV District Superintendent. The church was first organized as a home mission work by the district, but has been a solid, self-supporting church for over thirty years.

Fairmont had been a home mission target area for a second church for some time. Fairmont Central Church of the Nazarene, which occupied the former home of the Central Christian Church, seats over 200 and houses a Sunday school of 200 to 250.

Central Church of the Nazarene was launched in a rally on October 22, 1976, with over 200 people in attendance. Churches from the Fairmont zone attended and gave their full support. The first regular services were held on October 24, 1976, with 59 people in attendance. Rev. Donnell Armstrong was appointed pastor. Armstrong and his family came to Fairmont from Ronceverte. Fairmont First contributed several families to the church. Also, Morgantown church gave some people.

Central Church of the Nazarene offers Sunday school for all ages of children and adults. Worship services are held on Sunday mornings.

Our congregation, along with our pastor, Rev. Pam Perry, invites you to come and visit our church family and enjoy the freedom of worshiping our Lord and Savior.

BELIEFS

These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true:

We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

We believe that believers are to be santified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
